For internal and
especially external installations, how the surface of the steel is
prepared and coated makes a large difference in the longevity of the
installation. The prices vary, depending on the durability. This is a list of
the protective coatings we can provide:
|
Primer
coated steel is the most cost effective for the client. We prepare
the steel and spray a durable primer coating on it
in-house, and install it as primed. This is not a final
coat, and must be painted with a finish coat. If you the
client prefers to do this yourself, that's one option,
or we will be happy to recommend a reliable and
experienced painting company to take care of that for
you. |

Hot Dip Galvanizing effectively coats the entire surface of the
steel, inside and out, with zinc, sealing and protecting
it against the elements. Even if the steel is
later scratched, the zinc acts as a sacrificial element,
sealing the scratch against rusting. An extremely
durable coating, zinc is rated to last 75 years outside.
It will not accept paint though, so no color choices are
available. |

Powdercoating is a process where the fabricated steel
assembly
is abrasive blasted to clean and prepare it, then the
powder coating is applied and baked on. It provides a
durable, handsome surface with good longevity (the
premier grade is guaranteed for 20 years), while
offering a wide variety of color choices. It's slightly
more expensive, but when you want the best, it's the
right choice. |
